Game driving is the best way to get up close and personal to the big game that symbolizes Africa. Impala has six open sided landcruisers. Upon arrival you will meet your driver and guide, who will show you all the wonders the Selous has to offer. 

The Selous is enormous and has a huge diversity of scenery and wildlife for you to see and explore. Driving is the effective way to cover ground while on Safari in the Selous and is the best way to rack up the numbers on your sightings list. The choice is yours as to whether or not you wish to set out on a half day or full day game drive. You will decide what time you want to leave and return to the camp, but game drives start from 06:30 and all vehicles must be back in camp by sun down, which is about 18:30 in Tanzania, year round. 

Half day game drives will have you back in camp for lunch if you leave in the morning, and you will set off again in the afternoon, after a nap or a cool swim,  from about 16:00. This means that you can mix two different activities in the same day. You can go on an exciting game drive in the morning, stopping for a bush breakfast, back to camp for lunch and some relaxing time before setting off on a majestic boat safari and sundowners on the Rufiji River! The guides and managers will help you understand all your options and make suggestions, but the final choice is yours as to how you will spend your days.  

Full day game drives start and end according to your preference, which you will discuss with your driver and guide. Full days mean stopping for lunch under a shady tree in a little piece of the wild that is all your own. Visit the hotsprings near Frederick Courtenay Selous' resting place and see the habitiat change around you as you visit different parts of the Reserve. Full days don't necessarily mean seeing more animals, but you will be able to range futher than on a half day Safari.
