Safari bucket list

African wild dog at Lake Manze camp, Selous

The elusive items on a bucket list. Guests spend years trying to find the magnificent Wild Dogs. Although August is not the usual month for spotting them as they have gone to den so the alpha female with her helpers can rear the pups until they are big enough to come back to the Lake Manze area to hunt. Fortunately we found these two gentlemen close to Lake Manze Camp on their travels. We suspect that the two dogs are looking for females to join them to enable them to start a new pack.

A tower of Giraffe in Selous

Lake Manze boat safari

The graceful Giraffe, the national animal of Tanzania, is in abundance and we were lucky enough to capture a moment where a guest on a boat safari was able to see a tower of Giraffe of about twenty odd together.

The Selous has a plethora of varied species of birds and is a haven for the ardent bird lover. A favorite for everybody is the colorful Lilac breasted roller that displays itself as a goddess in the bird kingdom.

And as usual we have our elephant friends passing through the camp every day.

Our second visit and just as magical. George and his wonderful staff, the Masai, Shaun and Milli all make it so special. Great food (thank you Chef ) and perfect tents. Most of our family have now been and I will be forcing the rest to come over. Special thanks to the Elephants for turning up. Look forward to our next visit.

Truly a transcendent, once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget. Not just the fauna and flora, but also the amazing people who keep this beautiful camp running with such unflappable grace and style. Feeling energized and also humbled to have slipped into our ancient place in the food chain for a few days. Big thanks to Shaun and Milli and the wonderful staff for making our stay so memorable.
