Lion cubs learn to hunt
This short video of lionesses in the Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania, shows them taking down a family of warthogs near lake Manze Camp. Once the warthogs are down, the lionesses stand back and call their cubs so they can experiment with stalking, catching and carrying the kills.
Lion cubs usually join the pride on hunts after they are at least two years old, and must be proficient in hunting skills before they are 3 years of age, as that is the age at which most young males leave the pride and have to fend for themselves.
