Painted Elephants
There is no doubt that the Selous is an amazing place for seing Elephants - especially near Lake Manze, one of the lakes off the Rufiji river in the north-eastern part of Selous; The ellies love to bathe and play in the lake, and take mudbaths. The result - "painted" elephants with great textures.
I never tire of watching the graceful slow movements of the elephants, who often amble through Manze camp, attracted by the doum palm fruits and using the peninsula the camp is located on as a pathway to the lake.
Once an elephant has created a corridor through certain areas, you cannot stop them coming! And who would want to stop these gentle giants...
